Whenever I meet creatives, and am blessed enough to form friendships with them - I love to ask what their current favorite piece is. There is something so sweet and intimate about it - this is the piece of myself I am the most fond of right now.
Often times, our favorite piece is not the one that makes us look the best, or the most put together - but rather the piece that best encapsulates the feeling we want to bottle in the words.
If you were to ask me my favorite song I’ve written, I would tell you it is Different Roads Home.
Different Roads home is a song about the grief in a breakup, loss, separation, falling out, whatever you want to call it - not the grief of losing that person, but the loss of identity we go through. The grief of no one understanding the inside joke, or no one to send a tik tok to. The grief of losing the version of you that you were next to them, and the future you imagined.
Lyrically, I think it’s one of my best. I hope you like it.
While I’ve got you here, presave Idaho (it comes out May 2nd! This friday!)
I love you because you exist,
Faith
P.S. For my lyric lovers, I’ve written a deep dive into different roads home on the paid tier of my substack!
